Dr. Yael Sharon is a senior ophthalmologist at Rabin Medical Center in Israel.
She is a cataract surgeon and performs laser treatments and intraocular injections. Dr. Sharon specializes in inflammatory eye diseases (uveitis), for which she had a clinical and research fellowship in the united stated.
Dr. Sharon serves as a clinical lecturer at Sackler school of medicine of Tel Aviv University.
Dr. Sharon is a graduate of Tel Aviv University's medical school. She continued her professional training with an internship at the Sheba Medical Center and completed a residency in ophthalmology at Rabin Medical Center. During her residency, she went on to conduct research in the field of immunology at Princeton University in the USA, after which she integrated a unique clinical experience in the field of rheumatology at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in NJ, USA. From there, she continued to specialize in uveitis and ocular surface inflammatory diseases at the Metropolitan Eye Research and Surgery Institute in the USA.
Dr. Sharon wrote and published many scientific studies in leading journals. She leads and participates in clinical studies in Israel and internationally in the field of uveitis, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of uveitis, complications, clinical characterizations, innovative treatments, advanced imaging methods, genetics, and in ocular surface inflammatory disease. She instructs medical students, participates in the teaching of students and interns in ophthalmology, and is a member of the examination committee for certification in ophthalmology
of the Israel Ophthalmology Association. Dr. Sharon is a member of professional associations, among them the Israeli Medical Association, the Israeli Ophthalmological Society, the Israel Uveitis Society, the International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG) and the Foster Ocular Immunology Society (FOIS).
